Inhalers

I was looking at my inhaler today, and I decided it is one of the best designed things I own. It works perfectly, is made of very few parts, has replacable cartriges, and is clearly labeled with my name and prescription.

Those little strings they give out at IB tests

I took the IB chem exam the other day, and I think my favourite part of the whole tests was the fact that they don't use staples or paper clips to hold your answer sheets together. Instead, they make holes in every sheet, and at the end of the test they gave us all these little strings with plastic ends on them to hold the papers together. I tried to find a picture off of google, but no love for me. I'll make one and upload it when I become less lazy. For now, here's an ascii drawing.

[Edit: here is a drawing I made after the IB tests in 2005, and a photo I just took of a real one I stole from the IB tests in 2006]

Being short

While I generally complain about being short, I recently decided I quite like it. It lets me get away with a number of things that I really like. Like dancing in the rain or like sitting crosslegged on the floor. Or clicking my heels. Or being excited by the small things. If I do any of those things, people will accept it as "cute," and that will be that. Since I'm small of stature, I am expected to be more childish than the normal population.
I also get cheap movie tickets sometimes. And while it still smarts to be given crayons at restaurants, I do like coloring.
Plus, I fit into cute shoes, like the ones they always have on display. It comes in handy when there are no salespeople to help me. I just try on the one on the shelf.
I've been collecting the clothes I have now for about 5 years, because I've barely grown. This gives me a chance to hone what I own down to my favorite things.
So it's not a lose-lose situation. I feel bad when people mistake me for a fifth grader, but I also get to dance and draw and have nice clothes.

Marshmallow Peeps

What is Easter without smooshy, bright yellow marshmallow shapes? They are so full of sugary goodness I could eat them any day, but because of limited availability, I only get them on the first Sunday after the full moon after the 21st day of March (Thanks to www.howstuffworks.com for that one).
And I hear they no longer produce the yellow chicks, only purple or something. Marshmallow peeps are dead; long live marshmallow peeps.

Mix Tapes

I love getting a tape (or a CD) that someone sat down and made just for me. If you hand-color the cover and include track names, it's especially nice.
When someone gives you a mix tape, you get to see what they think of you. There's no better way to explain how you see someone than through a list of the music that reminds you of them. Whenever I recieve one, it makes my week, and those songs bounce to the top of my most-played tracks within just a few days.
I always fall in love with music people give me, but when it's a personalized set like you get from something like this, I like it even more.
Plus, the work that goes into making one really shows your commitment to someone. Even though I really only have four or five, I love mix tapes.

Pocky

Japanese snacks.
They resemble thin long pretzle sticks, and they appear to have been dipped in yogurt. There's regular sized Pocky, and then there's jumbo Pocky.
I don't know if you've seen those ads for the 100 calorie packs of "Oreos," but they are absolute crap. "The food is bad, and the portions are small," my parents would say.
In contrast, Pocky is delicious. There are millions of flavors, including chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and "men's", which supposedly has hormones in it.
I like strawberry the best. The reason why I compare Pocky to Oreo snacks is because you buy this box of Pocky and there is so much of it. And it's one serving, and it's 200 calories. So I have to say, that's why the Japanese are thin.
They even sell this stuff in the US. I've found it in the "internation foods" section of Cub. Check it out.

Oranges

I like oranges. I like the smell of them, the way they taste, the feel of the peel, and the incredible design of the sections. Whoever thought up the orange has my awe. I just found this site and I love it. Why do i not make small fake oranges in my free time?

Romeo + Juliet

I love the play, I love the movie. (Baz Luhrmann's version, especially). And right now, I'm in love with the soundtrack. You should probably buy the album. (Napoleon Dynamite reference!) I like "A Pretty Piece of Flesh" by One Inch Punch. I'm not sure if that's a real band/artist, but I know that the cover of the CD claims that he (they?) did it.

What are you waiting for? Buy it!!!

TiVo

I don't have TiVo, per se, but I love it anyway. Whoever came up with it is a sage. First of all, the name. I mean, TiVo. Perfect. It says it all, doesn't it? Then, the concept is neat as well. It's like the magic remote control you've always wanted.
